Republican senator Dan Seum of Louisville has forwarded a bill that would stop universities from increasing tuition and fees for the next four years, and then would give the state legislature oversight over any future increases. Since 2008 universities have seen their budget cut by 15 percent, and have relied on tuition hikes to make up the difference. The Council on Post-Secondary Education, which is the entity that reviews tuition hikes, has not released a statement on the bill.
