Second installment of the Audit Watch

In our ongoing story detailing the audit done by the Kentucky Office of Public Accounts in December 2015. Allegations were made that former Mayor Jerry Fannin had been compensated with a Chevy Tahoe by a local ambulance service for conducting an illegal burn of the former Ratliff Farm Supply store building in 2013. Nearly a year after the fire, a 10-thousand dollar lien on the vehicle was paid by an employee of Tran-Star Ambulance service, and the trucks title was transferred to Fannin. In the audit they discovered the tax bill for the burned building, was being mailed to Tran-Star’s owner. While there have been no charges filed, officials deemed that the transaction may have been a violation of a city ordinance that says a public official may not receive gifts, in any form, valued at more than 1-hundered dollars.
