A legislator wants local ADD programs put under a microscope

Kentucky State Representative Susan Westrom filed a bill on Friday that would put Kentucky’s Area Development Districts under increased oversight. In 2014, the Auditor’s Office released a scathing report about the Bluegrass ADD in Lexington. While they claim to have dealt with the issues internally, officials are calling for more regulation. Some tenants of the bill include protections for “whistleblowers”, requiring ADDs to comply with state regulations on procurement and hiring, and a 4 year examination of all 15 ADD’s.
