Bell County police arrested Gregory Lee Smith on Friday night for suspected theft and public intoxication. According to Smith, he was shopping and went into a panic, and ran out of the store. An officer outside of the store saw him running off with merchandise and pursued him on foot. Two state troopers who happen to be eating at a nearby restaurant joined the officer in the pursuit. One of the troopers was able to catch Smith, and transport him to the Bell County jail. His list of charges includes shoplifting, public intoxication and resisting arrest.
