A chance to end the death penalty in KY is unsuccessful

Opponents who support and oppose the death penalty came together in Frankfort to discuss eliminating it all together and instead, substitute death, in exchange for life, without the chance of parole but was overthrown by a House committee. Death penalty opponents stated the hearing itself shows progression in their quest to put an end to capital punishment. They noted the millions spent to prosecute and defend a death penalty case, they also said the system sometimes puts faultless people on death row while supporters said it should be an alternative. According to an article from WYMT, Rep. Johnny Bell said murders should feel the same “terror and dread” as their victims.
