A Hazard doctor and his wife are facing several federal charges

In 2013, State and Federal Agents raided Ace Clinique of Medicine in Hazard, a business owned by James “Ace” Chaney and his wife, Lesa Chaney, when word of illegal drug activity promoted an investigation. In court on Tuesday and employee who used to work for the Chaney’s, Amanda Dunn, testified that she, herself had modified drug screens under the direction of Dr. Chaney. Dr. John Morgan, who left the practice prior to it being raided, told the jury it wouldn’t be right minded to pre-sign prescriptions. In another testimony, the clinic’s former directior of IT also confessed in court to fabricating drug screens, in addition to handing out prescriptions that had been pre-signed, and that, he, as well as co-worker Amanda Dunn, had been directed to do so by Chaney. The trial began in February and was expected to take 6 weeks. The Chaney’s have denied the charges they’re facing in the 269 count indictment.
