When officials went to 31 year old Charles W. Cowden’s home pm Highway 1148 in the Isom community, he was observed to have  tossed something into a fire according to an arrest citation. Upon being told to stop his actions, Cowden instead went back into the home before complying with police.  Officials found aluminum foil, lithium, battery packs, along with a lithium battery that had been cut open, used sugar packs, and a bottle with what is believed to be salts from a formerly used, one step meth lab. Cowden was charged by KSP with tampering with evidence, fleeing from police, public intoxication and was taken to the Letcher Co. Jail.
