After almost crashing into a police cruiser around 930 Tuesday night, what was almost a 3 and a half mile chase on US23 started. 38 year old Bennie Hicks was under the influence, and officials say, had his vehicle not malfunctioned, he would not have stopped. Officials also say that upon getting out of the car, Hicks then attempted to flee the scene, but didn’t make it far before being restrained. Hicks has been charged with DUI, felony assault on a police officer, felony eluding, resisting arrest and driving on a revoked license, he is being held in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Duffeild Virginia.
