It all began when a video came out of King confronting Hazard Community and Technical College student, Kali Bentley after she says, he followed her to school, blocked her in a parking space and began confronting her after allegedly nearly hitting her car in a construction zone. She said she feared for her life, and had a panic attack shortly after the confrontation. When asked if she had been threatened or cussed at she said “no”. In King’s testimony, he stated it was not his intention to scare Kali, however admitted he was irritated when she flipped him off, but his only intentions were to talk to her about her plate, which he says he thought was illegal for her to drive with a disabled veterans tag, and it wasn’t until later he’d seen he made a mistake. The prosecution argued he had been serving his county since 96, therefore, should know the rules, or contact someone else before assuming otherwise. King has denied the charges.
