A Knott County teenager was seriously injured Saturday morning when the car she was driving struck a utility pole. 16 year old Kaleigh Smith, of Amburgey, was traveling north on Big Branch Road in a 2001 Honda Accord.  Smith lost control of the vehicle and traveled off of the left shoulder of the roadway and collided with a utility pole.  She was transported to Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision.  She was later taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center, where she remains at this time.    The exact cause of this collision is unknown, though it was raining at the time of this incident.  The investigation of this crash is being conducted by Trooper.
