Officials in Letcher County noticed a string of drug related arrests that seem to correlate to the first of the month. With most calls being about people getting high in their vehicles and passing out in parking lots. In an article to WYMT, Sheriff’s Deputy Eugene Slone said the phone would not stop ringing Monday morning. At the Letcher county jail from Friday morning to Tuesday afternoon 13 people had been arrested on drug related charges.  Officials believe the drug activity in the last few days may be associated with users who draw government benefits at the first of the month.
