Former coal CEO asking for a delay his arrival to prison

Don Blankenship was sentenced to a year in prison on April 6 in addition to a 250,000 fine for plotting to voluntarily defile mine safety standards in West Virginia at Upper Big Branch Mine where the coal mine ultimately exploded in 2010, claiming the lives of 29 men. According to an article from WYMT, Blankenship’s attorneys said he’s planned to go to prison Thursday in California. The court has not reached  a decision whether he should stay free until the larger appeal is decided. Prosecutor’s say Blankenship’s motion is unnecessary.
