A Hazard student goes above and beyond

According to an article from WYMT, Chyna Akers was facing an uphill battle to graduation. The Hazard High School student has lived on her own since the age of 14. When the Old Grand Hotel building burned down her senior year, her apartment was damaged leaving her homeless with only a little bit of furniture. With the help of her school she was able to find a place to stay and get what she needed to start back with. Sunday she received her diploma at graduation. She plans to go to college in Prestonsburg and hope to open her own business.
