Work on slide at Ivel will require brief traffic delays

Workers have created access to the slide source above US 23 at Ivel in Floyd County. Excavators, a dozer, and trucks are moving material on top of the mountain. This could cause brief periods when traffic will be stopped in the reduced speed limit/double fined work zone on US 23. Darold Slone, Engineering Branch Manager for Highway District 12, said that if there is any danger that rocks, trees, mud, or other material might tumble down the hillside, traffic will be stopped.

Photos are of the area on the hillside at or near the source of the slide. This cannot be seen from US 23
