On August 23^rd, the Prestonsburg Police Department received several calls of a two vehicle collision at the intersection of KY RT 114 & Colonels Court. Witnesses stated Myrtle Chaffins, 89, was traveling west on KY RT 114 and was making a left turn onto Colonels Court when she pulled into the path of Ismeal Hackworth. Hackworth, 73, was traveling east on KY RT 114 at the time of the collision. Chaffins was transported to Highlands Regional Medical Center and later pronounced deceased. The collision is being investigated by the Prestonsburg Police Department. The Prestonsburg Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Prestonsburg Fire Department, Kentucky State Police Division of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Tran-Star Ambulance and Kentucky Highway Department.
