Bevin Accused of Threats by Meyer

According to the Herald-Leader, State Representative Russ Meyer of Nicholasville released a voicemail message that he received in December from Matt Bevin allegedly threatening him. The allegations have Bevin telling Meyer that if he did not switch parties that the “impacts of those decisions” would effect his seat and his district. Meyer accused Bevin of delaying an $11 million project in Jessamine County in retaliation. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet chief of staff Asa Swan said postponement had nothing to do with Meyer but rather the removal of utility lines and pipes in the project’s path. House Speaker Greg Stumbo of Prestonsburg said “either state or federal authorities” would investigate the matter as it alleges abuse of the separation of powers.
