Health Officials Advise Expanded ER Staffing for Holiday Season

After a string of overdoses in the past month, and information from law enforcement,  Kentucky Department for Public Health Commissioner Dr. Hiram Polk said he, as well as his staff, are worried that hospitals and employees might be overran during the holiday weekend due to a possible rise in recreational drug use. He stated he  wanted to issue a warning to hospitals to expand their emergency room staffing.  Secondly, he said, they need to stock up on Naloxone, the “antidote” to heroin and other drug overdoses.
