Bevin Asks for Court Order to be Dissolved

The Associated Press reports that Governor Matt Bevin has asked a judge to dissolve his order allowing Thomas Elliot to remain on the Kentucky Retirement Systems board. Elliot sued Bevin earlier this year after being removed from the board, an order Franklin County Circuit Judge Phillip Shepherd blocked. Elliot did not attend the next board meeting, which Bevin’s attorney, Stephen Pitt, said demonstrates a “lack of commitment.” Elliot has meeting schedule during the time of the board meeting that had been scheduled before the judge’s order. Judge Shepherd called the reason “wholly inadequate.” The retirement board is scheduled to meet again on Thursday.
