The City of Martin has its first female police officer, reports the Floyd County Times. Kristen Napier was sworn in Thursday September 8. Napier decided to work in law enforcement while attending college and worked as a dispatcher for Martin Police over a year before taking the opportunity to become an officer. Sheila Hunter, of Cow Creek, said women like Napier are “role-models for the young women in their communities.” Napier is said to be excited for the opportunity to give back to her community.
