Bell County schools are looking to invest in new technology for school bus safety, reports WYMT. Those disobeying traffic laws, driving past school bus stop signs while loading and unloading, have lead Bell County to consider purchasing cameras that would take pictures of license plates when vehicles run through a stop sign. The cameras are in use in some school districts and other states. Bell County Sheriff Deputy Sheriff Nick Capps said “these laws are in place to protect children, protect the schools, and the bus drivers themselves.” Bell County Bus Coordinator David Gibbons said the superintendent and director are looking into the process of getting the cameras.
