Governor Matt Bevin and Labor Secretary Derrick Ramsey have announced the launch of the “Kentucky Trained. Kentucky Built.” Apprenticeship campaign. The initiative sets forth a goal of helping new program sponsors tap into the potential that apprenticeships have for their workforce needs. The “Kentucky Trained. Kentucky Built.” Campaign will commit new energy and resources to “provide career pathways for [new workers] and increased opportunities for those looking to expand their career track,” said Governor Bevin. Apprenticeship programs typically last up to five years with apprentices receiving about 2,000 hours of on-the-job training and a required minimum of 144 hours related classroom instruction, which the Labor Cabinet helps with customizing the curriculum to the employer’s needs.
