The Herald-Leader reports the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be repairing a Harlan County Cemetery holding the grave of a Revolutionary War Soldier. The Corps originally said they did not have authority to fix the sinking ground at the Wix Howard Cemetery at Loyall due to Harlan County taking over maintenance after a flood project was completed. However, the erosion of the site was found to be a design fault from the Corps’s flood control project in the 1990s. Judge-Executive Dan Mosley said he was pleased they would be taking over the $3 million to $5 million repairs as it is money the county doesn’t have.
