State Representative Rick Nelson has pre-filed a bill designed to boost job creation in several counties, reports WYMT. The bill would allow retailers in the designated federal Promise Zone of Bell, Clay, Knox, Perry and others, to retain sales tax. Retailers would retain approximately $22 million dollars in state taxes. Nelson said the intent of his proposal is to give the community a boost while encouraging economic development, business expansions, and job creation. The proposed tax incentives would expire in December 2021.
