Floyd County Superintendent Henry Webb wants everyone to know that Tuesday, September 20 is High Attendance Day for the state of Kentucky. On High Attendance Day elementary, middle, or high schools compete in small school or large school categories and awards are determined statewide based on each individual school’s performance. The school in each category with the highest percentage attendance for that day will be awarded $500. For elementary and middle schools who tie on the day of competition, ties are broken by attendance on the previous day. Webb commented, “We want our KIDS to be at school every day and High Attendance Day represents the importance of good attendance. We strive to be a district of excellence in every area for our KIDS and attendance is one of those areas.” Several county schools were said to have had 98% attendance and above this year.
