An accident September 15 led to one man’s arrest. The Floyd County Times reports police responded to an accident on Kentucky Route 302 near Jenny Wiley Marina, where Shawn Howard said someone ran his car off the road. Howard appeared intoxicated and failed a field sobriety test. He resisted arrest and knocked Prestonsburg Police Office Ralph Frasure to the ground. Frasure and Lt. George Tussey managed to subdue the man and place him under arrest. Howard was charged with operating a motor vehicle under influence of alcohol or drugs, no registration plates, failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance, resisting arrest, assault-third degree on a police officer and disorderly conduct. He was released September 16 on a $2,000 cash bond.
