HRMC Gets Stroke Certification

The Floyd County Chronicle reports Highlands Regional Medical Center earned the Acute Stroke Ready Certification. The announcement was made at a conference earlier this week by officials with Highlands and their UK HealthCare partners, making it the first Kentucky hospital, second in the U.S. and fourth in the world to be recognized as an Acute Stroke Ready facility by DNV Healthcare. The Ohio-based company is a subsidiary of the Norwegian business Stiftelsen Det Norske Veritas, which works to “safeguard life, property and the environment.” Highlands President and CEO Harold Warman, Jr. said this certification means the hospital has invested time and resources “to be a frontline provider for stroke care for our patients.” Warman said they will continue to grow and advance thanks to the assistance of UK Healthcare.
