An officer involved shooting occurred Friday morning, around 11:15 a.m. Kentucky State Police Post 8 Morehead received information about an officer involved shooting in Powell County. Upon arrival, it was determined that the Powell County Sheriff’s office was responding to a suspicious person complaint on Copperas Creek road when they came in contact with Stanley Marshall of Winchester. Marshall immediately fled the scene on foot and was pursued by Deputy Mike Townsend. The pursuit resulted in an altercation, which ended with Townsend firing one shot, striking Marshall. He is in stable condition and the shooting is under investigation by Sergeant Brian Evans.
