Gov. Bevin Cites Mercatus Report on Kentucky Regulations

Governor Matt Bevin cited Monday the results of a study proving there has been dramatic growth in the number of administrative regulations in Kentucky. The Mercatus Center at George Mason University reports that the Kentucky regulatory code, published as the Kentucky Administrative Regulations Service, increased by 250 percent between 1975 to 2015, currently 14 books from where it began. As a highly regulated state, Governor Bevin said many of the regulation, some he calls “outdated, redundant, or simply unnecessary,” is suffocating the Commonwealth’s economic growth. The governor encourages Kentuckians to visit RedTapeReduction.com to tell his administration how they can “simplify the process for doing business in Kentucky.”
