Property Tax Hearing Held in Johnson County

At Monday’s monthly meeting of the Johnson County Board of Education, a public hearing was held on the property tax increase for the school district. One resident attended the hearing to voice his grievances with the tax increase, saying he had recently moved back to the area from Ohio, but is considering leaving again due to the many tax increases that have been approved in the past year. The current property tax rate, 47.3 cents per $100, would increase by 1.7 cents if approved. Noel Crum, District Innovation Coordinator, said the increase keeps Johnson County’s school property tax rate among the lowest in the area.
