Knott County Woman Killed in Collision

A Knott County woman who was involved in a collision early Monday evening, has died from her injuries. Troopers from Kentucky State Police Post 13 were called to the scene of the collision at around 6:30 p.m., on Highway 80 near the Emmalena community of Knott County, after receiving a call that a vehicle had overturned and an occupant had been ejected. The initial investigation determined Violet Ritche, 41 of Fisty, was traveling westbound when her vehicle collided with another. Ritchie’s vehicle overturned and ejected her. No one was injured in the other vehicle, and Ritchie’s passenger refused medical treatment. Ritchie died Tuesday evening at Pikeville Medical Center. Toxicology reports are pending, but no criminal charges are pending at this time.
