In the Community Banking in the 21st Century: Opportunities, Challenges and Perspectives report, Kentucky bankers shared their insights and concerns about the economy, competition, regulatory burden, and more. The annual report features findings of a nationwide survey on community banking. Kentucky bankers are concerned about the state’s economic conditions due to low coal production, urban migration, and fewer demand for loans. More people are also turning their financials over to non-bank institutions, such as credit unions and the Farm Credit System. Many of the concerns were similar in the national survey.
