It’s that time of year again when outdoor burning restrictions are in effect. The Division of Forestry, responsible for fighting wildland fires on private lands and enforcing forest fire hazard season and other outdoor burning regulations, is preparing for the season and reminding residents of current burning hours. During the forest fire hazard season, it is illegal to burn between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. in or within 150 feet of any woodland or brushland. The Fall Forest Fire Hazard Season is October 1 through December 15. During the reporting period for September 28, 2016, three fires were reported in Clay, Floyd, and Pike counties with 17 acres burned.
