BSACAP to Start LIHEAP Pre-Registration for Elderly and Disabled on Oct. 17

Big Sandy Area Community Action Program is offering pre-registration for the Subsidy portion of the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program. The pre-registration will begin on Monday, October 17 and last until October 31. BSACAP Executive Director James Michael Howell said pre-registration should prove beneficial to customers. Howell also stressed that, although they are offering pre-registration, “no applications will be approved until Tuesday, November 1, the first day of the subsidy component. No vouchers will be sent to vendors until after October 31. To be eligible for pre-registration, applicants must bring proof they are receiving disability benefits and/or are at least 60 years of age and on a fixed income. Applicants must present

  • most recent heating bill or proof heating bill is included in rent;
  • proof of physical address;
  • proof of household income;
  • birth dates for all household members;
  • and social security card or official document with social security numbers for reach member of household.

Applicants must apply in the county of their residence.
