KSP Conducting Murder Investigation in Death of Jenkins Man

The death of a Letcher County Man who was discovered in his apartment last week is being investigated as a murder. Troopers and Detectives with Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard were called to Mountain Breeze Road in Jenkins at around 1:45pm on October 5, after a 911 call came in advising that a body had been discovered. The body of 50 year old Michael Lowe, of Jenkins, was located in his apartment at the Mountain Breeze Apartment Complex. Family members went to his apartment to check on him after not hearing from him since Monday and found him unresponsive. Lowe was pronounced dead at the scene by Letcher County Coroner Perry Fowler from what appeared to be multiple stab wounds.

Lowe’s body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort, where an autopsy was conducted. Preliminary results determined that the fatal wounds did not appear to be self-inflicted. Detectives are actively continuing this investigation and are urging anyone with information regarding this incident to contact KSP Post 13 at 606-435-6069.
