Mountain Comprehensive Care Center held an open house for their new psychiatric residential treatment facility. The facility, known as Rising Point, has been in the planning stages for the past seven years. The goal of the program will be to help at risk young boys who have been classified as severely emotionally disturbed, and work with their parents and guardians to maintain positive behaviors. Program director Richard Word spoke briefly about the importance of including parents and guardians in the program to assist at home.
The name Rising Point was inspired by a poem, titled Today I rise, by a 15 year old girl in foster care who had been in and out of psychiatric hospitals. The facility has nine-beds and they are currently serving four residents. For more information, visit mtcomp.org.
