Kentucky Emergency Management’s Assistance Team was recognized at last week’s Governor’s Awards ceremony in Frankfort. The KYEM Assistance Team was awarded the Governor’s Ambassador Team Award, which is awarded to team members who have significantly and positively impacted the lives of their co-workers, customers, or community. The is given each year and recognizes those in the areas of customer service, courage, leadership, professional achievement, teamwork, or community service and volunteerism. Michael E. Dossett, director of Kentucky Emergency Management, said “We are honored to receive the…award and the recognition for our Assistance Team. This group of dedicated professionals works tirelessly and has literally rewrote the book on managing grant funding and processing claims within the Division.” Thanks to their efforts, length of time to process claim reimbursement has reduced from three months to one day and the Emergency Management Assistance Team was able to provide counties with over half a million dollars in additional special project funds to enhance EMA programs.
