On Wednesday, October 12, Kentucky State Police responded to a resident on Old Hilda Road to execute an arrest warrant on 22-year-old Matthew Brewer, of Morehead. He was spotted outside the residence and fled into his home, pointing a gun at Trooper Michael Armstrong. Brewer was fatally shot and pronounced dead at the scene by Rowan County Coroner John Northcutt. The incident remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
