Wednesday, Governor Matt Bevin and First Lady Glenna Bevin hosted the Celebration of Hope luncheon in honor of those lives affected by breast cancer. Through this event, over $65,000 were raised in donations to go to the Markey Cancer Center for breast cancer research. First Lady Bevin said “We look forward to a day when men and women are no longer affected by this disease. In the case of breast cancer, early detection is crucial.” As the leading state for cancer diagnosis, the First Lady encouraged Kentuckians to discuss the signs and risks of the disease with their doctors. As a symbol of solidarity with breast cancer survivors, the Governor’s Mansion will be lit pink from October 11 through 14.
