Around 2:30pm Thursday, October 13, Eastern Kentucky University sent out a public safety alert of gunfire reported near the Richmond Campus. Recipients were advised to take shelter and secure doors. The shots were reported at 2nd street and Wellington Court. The Richmond Police Department investigated the unconfirmed reports of gunfire. The EKU Police assisted Richmond Police in searching the area, and although there were multiple reports made, no active threat was identified. The all clear was given at 3:01pm.
