Arts Access Assistance Grant to Focus on Children from Separated Families

For children from separated families, art is a valuable outlet. For the 2017 fiscal year, the Kentucky Arts Council’s Arts Access Assistance grant will focus on serving children with one or more parents who are separated from the family home for a long-term period. Reasons for the separation may include military deployment, long-term healthcare issues, incarceration or other institutionalization. Lori Meadows, arts council executive director, said children from this group were identified as being “especially vulnerable and in need of the creative outlet that art can provide.” The deadline to apply for this round of the Arts Access Assistance is 4:30 pm January 17, 2017.
