As George Ella Lyon’s term as Kentucky Poet Laureate begins to close, her story collection project “Where I’m From: A Poetry of Place” is still accepting submissions until December 1. Based on Lyon’s 1993 poem “Where I’m From,” which has served as a model for poetry writing in communities around the world, the goal of the project is to collect individual stories from each of Kentucky’s 120 counties. People interested in participating in the “Where I’m From” project can do so by emailing their county contact, of which a list can be found at artscouncil.ky.gov.
