Effective November 1, the Corner Haven Crisis Center in Hazard will be closed during daytime hours. Hazard Perry County Community Ministries announced in a press release that the program has struggled the past five years with insufficient revenue from the federal government and significant delays in payments from funders. Corner Haven will become a night only shelter and will no longer be able to provide meals and food boxes to neighbors of the shelter. Despite the setback, HPCCM says they will continue to move people from homelessness to housing, already having successfully housed 42 individuals by working with public and private landlords in the community.
