A Harlan County woman was arrested Monday after the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Tremont residence with Probation and Parole. Authorities discovered a small child in a vehicle, alone, outside the residence, sitting on a syringe. An additional syringe and marijuana was also discovered inside the vehicle. A search of the residence also found methamphetamine, oxycodone, and drug paraphernalia. Ashley Smallwood, 31, was arrested for possession of controlled substance in the 1st and 2nd degree, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and endangering the welfare of a minor. She was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center with no bond set.
