Marvin J. Lipfird, former Harlan County Sheriff, has been indicted for the theft of public funds and property. The indictment alleges Lipfird abused his former position by misusing funds and property belonging to the Harlan County government, such as stealing money from a fund intended for use in controlled drug purchases. He also allegedly sought reimbursement for personal expenses, such as food, alcohol, hotel rooms, and a dating website subscription. Lipfird faces up to 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.
