New Leapfrop Hospital Safety Grades, which assign A, B, C, D, and F letter grades to hospitals nationwide and provide the most complete picture of patient safety in the U.S., were recently announced by The Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog. Pikeville Medical Center once again earned an “A,” accomplishing the difficult task of being awarded straight “A’s” since 2013. PMC is one of only 113 hospitals out of over 2,600 across the country to attain this honor. Of the hospitals reviewed in Kentucky, only 21.3 percent earned an “A.” President and CEO Walter May said receiving the straight “A’s” demonstrates Pikeville Medical Center consistently makes patient safety a top priority.
