Floyd County School superintendent Dr. Henry Webb has earned the title of 2017 Kentucky Superintendent of the Year by the Kentucky Association of School Administrators, they announced in a news release Wednesday. Dr. Webb received the award in a surprise ceremony in Prestonsburg from KASA Executive Director Wayne Young, attended by the district’s faculty, staff, board members, and community leaders. In addition to the recognition, he received a bronze eagle sculpture, a $2,500 scholarship for a Floyd County high school senior, a SOY ring, and travel reimbursement to the AASA National Conference on Education. KASA Executive Director Wayne Young called Webb’s leadership “remarkable” and that he has “established a culture of excellence.” Dr. Webb is now a finalist for the National Superintendent of the Year Award, given by the American Association of School Administrators in March 2017.
