Missing Letcher County Man’s Remains Found

The body of a man reported missing last month was discovered the morning of December 1 in Letcher County. A passing motorist observed what appeared to be a red ATV in a field off KY 160, in the Kings Creek community of Letcher County. The apparent remains of a white male were discovered while the motorist walked over to investigate the ATV. Kentucky State Police Post 13 received a 911 call regarding the body at around 9:16am. After viewing the body and vehicle, investigators suspected the deceased to be 35-year-old Charles Fields, who went missing November 22. Family at the scene positively identified the body as the missing man. The preliminary investigation determined that Fields’ was ejected from the ATV when it overturned after going off the shoulder of the roadway. The remains were sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy, and no foul play is suspected at this time.
