Beginning January 2017, the Floyd County Health Department will offer The Syringe Exchange Program. Participants will be given syringes based on the number of used ones brought in and syringes from those who are not on the program will not be accepted. Used syringes must be brought in on the initial visit in a safe disposable container. The decision to offer the program was based on a Center for Disease Control study listing Floyd County as the 10th most likely in the nation to have a rapid growth of Hepatitis C and HIV. Hepatitis C cases are also higher in our area than any other in the state. For more information, contact Martha Ellis at 606-886-2788.
