Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest in Knox County

On Monday, December 5, Knox County Sheriff’s department made a traffic stop that ended with an arrest. Deputy Mikey Ashurst observed an expired license plate on a vehicle on KY 233 in Gray around 11pm. The driver, Casey Lockhart, 42, was arrested and charged with expired registration plates, expired registration receipt, no insurance, and failure to wear seatbelt. During the arrest, a small plastic baggie was observed in Lockhart’s mouth, which he swallowed. Several baggies, syringes, spoons, and snorting straws were found in the vehicle, with residue testing positive for meth. Lockhart was additionally charged with tampering with physical evidence, possession of controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
