Around 4pm Saturday, December 10, Bell County dispatch received a call of an accident with injuries and a fight in progress on Highway 25E, near the water treatment plant. Bell County Sheriff’s Deputy Sgt. Jared Smith and two state troopers responded to the scene, but discovered no accident. James Hamlin told officers Dustin Hensley, 29 of Middlesboro, stole his wife’s vehicle. Hamlin discovered the vehicle and had Hensley pull over where he confronted him on the shoulder of the road. Hensley fled the scene and, when police found him, was discovered to be under the influence. He was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, no license, and theft.
